Student in the Spotlight!

September means new agendas, fresh plans and… the start of a new academic year. In this edition, we get to know Halima, who combines her studies with a student job at Cloud Group. We asked her how she ended up at Cloud Group, what her first impression was of our business center The Cloud House, how she has experienced her journey so far, and how her academic background connects with her work experience with us.

Let’s start at the beginning: what are you studying and what year are you in?

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, with a specialization in Environmental Coordinator A.

What appealed to you about this student job and why did you choose Cloud Group?

I deliberately looked for a student job where I could further develop my communicative and commercial skills in a professional B2B context. The inside sales role appealed to me because it is challenging and encourages you to engage actively and professionally with companies.

In addition, I already knew Cloud Group before applying and had always had a positive image of the company. The services and solutions immediately appealed to me as well. The idea of being part of the team behind these solutions ultimately convinced me.

How did you experience your first day at Cloud Group, from the welcome to your first impression of The Cloud House?

My first day immediately felt very pleasant. I received a warm welcome from the team, which helped me feel at ease quickly. Everything was explained clearly and there was room to ask questions, giving me a good overview of my role.

The Cloud House also made an impression: a modern, professional working environment with an open atmosphere, and easily accessible. That combination of a warm welcome, good guidance and a pleasant workplace gave me the feeling from day one that I was in the right place.

How long have you been working at Cloud Group and how has your journey evolved?

I have been working at Cloud Group for about nine months now. In the beginning, I found my footing fairly quickly, which made it easier to settle into my role. Over time, I became increasingly familiar with the services and products, which also made me more confident in my conversations.

In addition, I have grown personally and now communicate much more strongly. I have learned a great deal from my colleagues, both through collaboration and through feedback and support. This makes my journey at Cloud Group so far very educational and positive.

How would you describe the departmental and organizational culture?

I experience the culture at Cloud Group as open and egalitarian. Everyone is approachable, regardless of role or experience, which creates an accessible and pleasant working atmosphere. People work together respectfully and you can feel that colleagues are willing to help one another. What I especially appreciate is that there is room to truly be yourself and to keep learning every day - that feeling is genuinely wonderful.

That’s great to hear, Halima! What do you bring from your studies into your work at Cloud Group, and which insights from your student job help you further in your education?

From my studies, I bring a strong analytical mindset and an independent working attitude to my job at Cloud Group. During my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, I learned to work accurately, both independently and in teams, for example in laboratory environments. In my Master’s in Environmental Science, the focus lies strongly on communication and dealing with very diverse stakeholders, which aligns perfectly with my role in inside sales.

Conversely, my student job helps me communicate more smoothly, confidently and persuasively. I also apply these skills in my studies and further personal development.
