Student in the spotlight!

How did you join Cloud Group and what was your first impression upon entering our business center, The Cloud House?
I was looking for an extra income and while scrolling through vacancies on the VDAB website, the vacancy for Inside Sales grabbed my attention, and I applied immediately. My first impression upon entering your business center, The Cloud House, was very positive. For one thing, it is located near the central station and very easy to reach. So I could quickly assess that it was possible to combine working and studying. On the other hand, the modern and professional look of the office and, of course, the welcome immediately gave me a good feeling.
Meanwhile, how long have you been working at Cloud Group and how did your journey go?
I have been working at Cloud Group for almost two years now and my trajectory within the company has already been very exciting. I started on Inside Sales to schedule appointments for the sales representatives, gaining in-depth product knowledge. Later, I made the move to customer support, where at first I did mostly back-end tasks. Gradually I got more opportunities to interact directly with customers, which makes my role even more educational. It is inspiring to see how my tasks evolve and how I can contribute more and more to “The Cloud.
How would you describe the departmental and organizational culture?
(thinks for a moment) ... As very horizontal anyway. There is a focus on taking personal responsibility within a clear framework, with the necessary support. In both departments where I have worked, I feel a lot of value is placed on autonomy and encouraging self-development. The fact that you can show initiative and actively contribute to the goals of the department - and the organization as a whole - is a strong motivator for me. You are not just a number as I sometimes hear in my circle of family and friends. Feedback is given, constructively, both on what could be improved but also on what is going well.
That's great to hear, Mattias! Finally, can you tell us a bit more about your academic background and how it has contributed to your work at Cloud Group and vice versa?
I am currently in my third bachelor's degree in TEW at the University of Antwerp. My theoretical knowledge that I am gaining partly translates into practice, which gives me a foundation, but also confirmation that I have chosen the right study. In the meantime, I can still say that I have developed a deep understanding of a digital organization, which corresponded perfectly to a course I took during my studies. Working in a real business environment gave me the opportunity to apply and further develop theoretical concepts.
